| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Citizens of La Porte are gathering in Austin on |

| 9 | 9 | | March 5, 2025, to celebrate La Porte Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1892, La Porte thrived as a resort town |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | during the 1920s and 1930s, when Sylvan Beach Amusement Park drew |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | many of the nation's greatest big band performers, including Rudy |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Vallee and Benny Goodman; in the years since, the petrochemical |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | industry, the Bayport Channel, and NASA's nearby Johnson Space |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Center have benefited the economy, and today, the community boasts |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | award-winning schools and a business-friendly municipal |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | government; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Residents and visitors alike enjoy the |

| 19 | 19 | | opportunities for recreation in the region, such as the San Jacinto |

| 20 | 20 | | Battleground State Historic Site, the San Jacinto Museum of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | History, and the historic Sylvan Beach Park; and |

| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Celebrating their heritage as they work to build a |

| 23 | 23 | | bright future, the people of La Porte may take great pride in the |

| 24 | 24 | | role their community continues to play in the story of the Lone Star |

| 25 | 25 | | State; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 5, 2025, as La Porte Day at the |

| 28 | 28 | | State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation sincere best |
