11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A leader in his community, Mr. Killam has applied |

12 | 13 | | his business acumen in a broad range of fields, including oil and |

13 | 14 | | gas exploration, real estate development, and ranching; he holds a |

14 | 15 | | bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a |
---|
15 | 16 | | certificate in ranch management from Texas Christian University; |

17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Killam has long demonstrated a steadfast |

18 | 19 | | commitment to the quality of life in Laredo; as an underwriter of |

20 | 21 | | Texas A&M University College of Medicine, he has helped to enhance |

22 | 23 | | education through various scholarship programs, and his family's |

23 | 24 | | significant donation of land to Texas A&M International University |

24 | 25 | | led to the creation of its 300-acre campus; in addition, the Killams |

28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Active in a number of organizations, Mr. Killam has |

29 | 30 | | held leadership positions with the Texas Oil & Gas Association, the |

30 | 31 | | Texas State History Museum Foundation, and the Young Presidents' |

31 | 32 | | Organization; he is also a champion of stewardship and conservation |

32 | 33 | | efforts, serving as chair of the advisory board of the Caesar |

33 | 34 | | Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, which named him the 2023 South |

34 | 35 | | Texan of the Year; in recognition of his work, he has received |

35 | 36 | | numerous other accolades, including a Lone Star Land Steward Award |
