| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Westlake Fire Department is celebrating the 50th |

| 8 | 9 | | anniversary of its founding in 2025; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, In 1975, a group of residents of Westlake and its |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | surrounding communities came together to establish the Westlake |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Volunteer Fire Department; in its early days, the department had |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | fewer than 20 members and a very modest inventory of equipment, but |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | various fundraisers and donations eventually allowed it to build a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | station and acquire additional fire protection resources; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Today, the Westlake Fire Department is largely |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | funded by Harris County Emergency Services District No. 47, and it |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | serves approximately 100,000 people in a 10-square-mile area in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | western Harris County; it is staffed by more than 150 volunteers and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | employees, including crew members who are on duty and available to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | assist in emergencies at all hours of the day and night; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Every year, personnel answer thousands of calls for |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | assistance with an average response time of five minutes, and it |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | utilizes a fleet that encompasses two Class A engines, three |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | command vehicles, three ambulances, a 100-foot aerial, a rescue |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | boat, and a medic vehicle with assigned paramedics; through |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | investments in its fire suppression capabilities, the department |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | was able to improve its Insurance Services Office Public Protection |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Classification rating to 2, placing it among the top two percent of |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | fire departments in the nation; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, For half a century, the dedicated members of the |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Westlake Fire Department have rendered exceptional service to their |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | fellow Texans, and they may indeed reflect with pride on their |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | contributions as they celebrate this notable milestone in the |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | organization's history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby honor the Westlake Fire Department on the |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | occasion of its 50th anniversary and extend to its firefighters, |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | emergency medical staff, and other personnel sincere best wishes |

| 39 | 40 | | for continued success with their important work; and, be it further |

| 40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
