| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Michael Fawzi Tarabay of Sour Lake has demonstrated |

| 9 | 10 | | donor and helping to save the life of a friend and colleague; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mike Tarabay met Marshall Goode in 2020, and the two |

| 11 | 12 | | developed a friendship while working together over the next several |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | years; Mr. Goode had suffered from an inherited liver disease for a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | decade and a half, but his health had begun to rapidly decline in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the months leading up to February 2024, when he was diagnosed with |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | end-stage liver disease and given only 12 to 16 months to live; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Devastated by the news, Mr. Goode and his family |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | were left with few options; while undergoing the process of joining |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the liver transplant waiting list, Mr. Goode's condition worsened, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | forcing him to take a leave of absence from his job and to be |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | hospitalized for a time; he was informed that, due to his blood |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | type, a partial liver transplant from a living donor would offer the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | best chance of resolving his symptoms; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, After learning of the grim prognosis that his friend |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | faced, Mr. Tarabay reached out to the Goode family and volunteered |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | as a potential donor; testing revealed that Mr. Tarabay was a |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | match, and he went on to endure a battery of tests, scans, and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | procedures over the next six months to prepare himself for |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | transplant surgery; along the way, Mr. Tarabay and the Goode family |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | received an outpouring of prayers and support from their Southeast |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Texas community and from churches as far away as North Carolina; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, On September 10, 2024, dual operations were |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | performed on the two men; the surgeries were a success, and thanks |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | to Mr. Tarabay's act of generosity, Mr. Goode faces a far more |

| 34 | 35 | | optimistic future; and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Mike Tarabay has deservedly been hailed a hero for |

| 36 | 37 | | his actions, and his inspiring gift to a friend in need is a |

| 37 | 38 | | testament to the most admirable qualities of the human spirit; now, |
