7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Ken Molberg concluded his exemplary |

8 | 9 | | service as senior associate justice of the Court of Appeals for the |

9 | 10 | | Fifth District of Texas in Dallas on January 1, 2025; and |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Elected to Place 12 of the appellate court in 2018, |

11 | 12 | | Justice Molberg brought to his role a wealth of experience on the |
---|
12 | 13 | | bench, including a decade as judge of the 95th Judicial District |
---|
13 | 14 | | Court; previously, he served as the local administrative district |
---|
14 | 15 | | judge of Dallas County, with responsibilities for the county's 39 |
---|
15 | 16 | | district courts, and as the presiding judge of all civil district |
---|
16 | 17 | | courts of the county; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Justice Molberg graduated from the Southern |
---|
18 | 19 | | Methodist University School of Law, and in 1981, he cofounded the |

19 | 20 | | firm Wilson, Williams & Molberg; during his 33 years as a trial |
---|
20 | 21 | | attorney, he specialized in labor and employment law and handled |
---|
21 | 22 | | and tried hundreds of civil matters, among them cases before the |
---|
22 | 23 | | U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Texas, and |

23 | 24 | | state appellate courts; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Justice Molberg has advanced his |
---|
25 | 26 | | profession in numerous leadership roles; he co-chaired the Pattern |

26 | 27 | | Jury Charges Business, Consumer, Insurance & Employment Committee |

27 | 28 | | for the State Bar of Texas, and he served for many years on the U.S. |

28 | 29 | | Fifth Circuit District Judges Association Advisory Committee on |

29 | 30 | | Pattern Jury Charges for Labor and Employment Law; moreover, he was |

30 | 31 | | a founder and president of the Texas Employment Lawyers |

31 | 32 | | Association; he has further benefited his colleagues as a frequent |

32 | 33 | | speaker for continuing legal education programs and as a |

33 | 34 | | substantial annual contributor to the Dallas Bar Association's |

34 | 35 | | Equal Access to Justice Campaign/Dallas Volunteer Attorney |

36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, In addition, Justice Molberg is an original member |

37 | 38 | | of the Founders Board of the University of North Texas Dallas |

38 | 39 | | College of Law, where a student scholarship is named in his honor; |

39 | 40 | | the recipient of myriad accolades, he was recognized with the |

40 | 41 | | Dallas Bar Association's prestigious Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn Jurist |

41 | 42 | | of the Year Award in 2022, and he was selected as the 2017 Jurist of |

42 | 43 | | the Year by the Texas chapters of the American Board of Trial |

44 | 45 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as a judge, Ken Molberg |

45 | 46 | | demonstrated wisdom, integrity, and a profound commitment to the |

46 | 47 | | law, and his contributions have won him the high esteem of his |

47 | 48 | | colleagues; now, therefore, be it |

48 | 49 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

49 | 50 | | Legislature hereby honor Ken Molberg for his service as a justice of |

50 | 51 | | the Court of Appeals of the Fifth District of Texas and that he be |

51 | 52 | | extended sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
