67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, The Honorable Ken Molberg concluded his exemplary
89 service as senior associate justice of the Court of Appeals for the
910 Fifth District of Texas in Dallas on January 1, 2025; and
1011 WHEREAS, Elected to Place 12 of the appellate court in 2018,
1112 Justice Molberg brought to his role a wealth of experience on the
1213 bench, including a decade as judge of the 95th Judicial District
1314 Court; previously, he served as the local administrative district
1415 judge of Dallas County, with responsibilities for the county's 39
1516 district courts, and as the presiding judge of all civil district
1617 courts of the county; and
1718 WHEREAS, Justice Molberg graduated from the Southern
1819 Methodist University School of Law, and in 1981, he cofounded the
1920 firm Wilson, Williams & Molberg; during his 33 years as a trial
2021 attorney, he specialized in labor and employment law and handled
2122 and tried hundreds of civil matters, among them cases before the
2223 U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Texas, and
2324 state appellate courts; and
2425 WHEREAS, Over the years, Justice Molberg has advanced his
2526 profession in numerous leadership roles; he co-chaired the Pattern
2627 Jury Charges Business, Consumer, Insurance & Employment Committee
2728 for the State Bar of Texas, and he served for many years on the U.S.
2829 Fifth Circuit District Judges Association Advisory Committee on
2930 Pattern Jury Charges for Labor and Employment Law; moreover, he was
3031 a founder and president of the Texas Employment Lawyers
3132 Association; he has further benefited his colleagues as a frequent
3233 speaker for continuing legal education programs and as a
3334 substantial annual contributor to the Dallas Bar Association's
3435 Equal Access to Justice Campaign/Dallas Volunteer Attorney
3536 Program; and
3637 WHEREAS, In addition, Justice Molberg is an original member
3738 of the Founders Board of the University of North Texas Dallas
3839 College of Law, where a student scholarship is named in his honor;
3940 the recipient of myriad accolades, he was recognized with the
4041 Dallas Bar Association's prestigious Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn Jurist
4142 of the Year Award in 2022, and he was selected as the 2017 Jurist of
4243 the Year by the Texas chapters of the American Board of Trial
4344 Advocates; and
4445 WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure as a judge, Ken Molberg
4546 demonstrated wisdom, integrity, and a profound commitment to the
4647 law, and his contributions have won him the high esteem of his
4748 colleagues; now, therefore, be it
4849 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4950 Legislature hereby honor Ken Molberg for his service as a justice of
5051 the Court of Appeals of the Fifth District of Texas and that he be
5152 extended sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
5253 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5354 prepared for Justice Molberg as an expression of high regard by the
5455 Texas House of Representatives.
