7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |

8 | 9 | | with the passing of Alma Jewel Pryor of Dallas on January 31, 2025, |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born on February 12, 1940, Alma Pryor was a woman of |

11 | 12 | | devout faith and an admired member of her community; as the wife of |
---|
12 | 13 | | Pastor George Pryor for more than six decades, she served as the |
---|
13 | 14 | | founding first lady of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in |
---|
14 | 15 | | Dallas, and she touched countless lives through the spiritual |
---|
15 | 16 | | guidance she provided to the congregation; she was the founding |
---|
16 | 17 | | director of the children, youth, and young adult ministry, and she |
---|
17 | 18 | | demonstrated her leadership and passion for service in a variety of |
---|
18 | 19 | | other capacities at the church; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Beyond her responsibilities to the church, |
---|
20 | 21 | | Mrs. Pryor was active in the Dallas Regional District Association, |
---|
21 | 22 | | which her husband served as moderator, and she led the Metropolitan |
---|
22 | 23 | | Ministers' Wives as president for many years; in addition, she was a |
---|
23 | 24 | | licensed cosmetologist and professional hairstylist, and she drew |
---|
24 | 25 | | on her entrepreneurial talents as a wholesale buyer at the Dallas |
---|
25 | 26 | | Market Center; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. Pryor was the |
---|
27 | 28 | | mother of four children, Pamela, Darrell, Michael, and Tammy, and |
---|
28 | 29 | | she relished her roles as a grandmother, great-grandmother, and |
---|
29 | 30 | | great-great-grandmother; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Alma Pryor will |
---|
31 | 32 | | long remember her abiding commitment to her family, her church, and |
---|
32 | 33 | | the wider community, and she is greatly missed by those who were |
---|
33 | 34 | | fortunate enough to share in her love and friendship; now, |
---|

35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
