9 | 10 | | Tech Challenge events and their service to the San Antonio |

11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The FIRST Tech Challenge empowers students to |

12 | 13 | | design, build, program, and operate robots while fostering |

13 | 14 | | essential STEM skills and soft skills such as teamwork, |

14 | 15 | | communication, and problem-solving; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2015, the TechnoWizards encompass |
---|
16 | 17 | | students from San Antonio public high schools, charter schools, and |
---|
17 | 18 | | home schools; they have participated in dozens of competitions, |
---|
18 | 19 | | including the FIRST in Texas FTC State Championship, the |
---|
19 | 20 | | FiT-Central Area Championship, and the TX-Central Regional |
---|
20 | 21 | | Championship; the team has been consistently ranked in the top 50 in |
---|
21 | 22 | | the world in recent years, and at the 2022-2023 FIRST World |
---|
22 | 23 | | Championship in Houston, the group earned second place in the |
---|
23 | 24 | | prestigious Think Award category in the Ochoa Division; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, the members of the TechnoWizards |

25 | 26 | | have served their community by promoting the importance of STEM |
---|
26 | 27 | | skills among area youth, sharing their technical knowledge, and |

27 | 28 | | volunteering to support nonprofit organizations; they have also |

28 | 29 | | organized a summer robot camp for elementary school students that |

29 | 30 | | takes place at The University of Texas at San Antonio and have held |

30 | 31 | | a robotics technical conference that brings together FTC teams from |

31 | 32 | | around the globe; and |

32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Ably guided by coaches Liqun Jin, Xing Tao, Jason |

33 | 34 | | Olkowski, and Yufang Jin and founding coach James Lewey, the |

34 | 35 | | community-based team includes Ilias Bari, Jerry He, Justin Jin, |

35 | 36 | | Vincent Liu, James Lu, Parker Olkowski, Adity Rao, Alejandro |

36 | 37 | | Saucedo, Eduardo Saucedo, Augustine Taboabo, Sebestiano Taboabo, |
