H.R. No. 266 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A delegation from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is visiting Austin on February 19, 2025, in celebration of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Day at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi traces its beginnings to 1947, when the University of Corpus Christi was established; the institution became part of The Texas A&M University System in 1989; and WHEREAS, Today, TAMU-CC serves more than 11,400 students and offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in such fields as business, education, engineering, liberal arts, communication, and nursing; the university continues to introduce new degree programs in its continuing efforts to broaden its curricular offerings, which now include bachelor's degrees in early childhood education and civil and industrial engineering and master's degrees in data science and public health; and WHEREAS, TAMU-CC is home to a number of world-class centers and institutes that carry out autonomous research in geospatial and marine science with a focus on coastal marine studies; and WHEREAS, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has established itself as a premier academic institution and a resource of inestimable value to South Texas, and it is fitting that a day be set aside to honor TAMU-CC for its many contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby recognize February 19, 2025, as Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Day at the State Capitol and commend the administration, faculty, staff, and students of the university for their commitment to excellence in education; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the university as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
