| 9 | 10 | | Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi traces its |

| 11 | 12 | | beginnings to 1947, when the University of Corpus Christi was |

| 12 | 13 | | established; the institution became part of The Texas A&M |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | University System in 1989; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Today, TAMU-CC serves more than 11,400 students and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in such fields as |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | business, education, engineering, liberal arts, communication, and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | nursing; the university continues to introduce new degree programs |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | in its continuing efforts to broaden its curricular offerings, |

| 19 | 20 | | which now include bachelor's degrees in early childhood education |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and civil and industrial engineering and master's degrees in data |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, TAMU-CC is home to a number of world-class centers |

| 23 | 24 | | and institutes that carry out autonomous research in geospatial and |

| 24 | 25 | | marine science with a focus on coastal marine studies; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has established |

| 26 | 27 | | itself as a premier academic institution and a resource of |

| 27 | 28 | | inestimable value to South Texas, and it is fitting that a day be |

| 28 | 29 | | set aside to honor TAMU-CC for its many contributions to the Lone |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
