8 | 9 | | with the tragic passing of Lyndsey Captain Vicknair of Manor on June |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born on December 31, 1990, to Bobby and Lena |

11 | 12 | | Captain, the former Lyndsey Captain grew up with the companionship |

12 | 13 | | of a sister, Laura-Marie; after graduating from Mansfield High |

13 | 14 | | School in 2008, she earned her bachelor's degree in criminal |
---|
14 | 15 | | justice from Prairie View A&M University in 2010; she furthered her |
---|
15 | 16 | | education by obtaining a juris doctor degree from South Texas |
---|
16 | 17 | | College of Law in 2013 and a master of legal studies degree in oil, |
---|
17 | 18 | | gas, and energy resources from the University of Oklahoma in 2020; |

19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Mrs. Vicknair was |
---|
20 | 21 | | working as a construction attorney with the Chapman Firm in Austin, |
---|
21 | 22 | | where she was recognized as a promising young professional; she was |

22 | 23 | | active in several industry organizations, including the Austin |
---|
23 | 24 | | Young Lawyers Association, the Austin Bar Association, and various |
---|
24 | 25 | | sections of the State Bar of Texas; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Vicknair enjoyed the |
---|
26 | 27 | | love and support of her husband, Kevin Vicknair, and their three |
---|
27 | 28 | | children, Kenzi, Kairo, and Kya; in her leisure time, she enjoyed |
---|
28 | 29 | | traveling and attending concerts and sporting events; she and her |
---|
29 | 30 | | husband set an inspiring example of charitable involvement for |
---|
30 | 31 | | their children by organizing fundraisers and food drives and taking |
---|
31 | 32 | | part in other community outreach activities, and after her son was |
---|
32 | 33 | | diagnosed with sickle cell anemia in 2020, she dedicated herself to |
---|
33 | 34 | | promoting awareness of the disease; and |
---|
34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, During her years on this earth, Lyndsey Vicknair |
---|
35 | 36 | | demonstrated a passion for life and a steadfast commitment to the |
---|
36 | 37 | | causes in which she believed, and those who were fortunate enough to |
---|
37 | 38 | | know her will never forget the love and friendship that she shared |
---|
38 | 39 | | with them; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
---|
40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lyndsey Captain |
---|
41 | 42 | | Vicknair and extend heartfelt condolences to her family: to her |

42 | 43 | | husband, Kevin Vicknair; to her children, Kenzi, Kairo, and Kya; to |

43 | 44 | | her sister, Laura-Marie Captain; to her cousins; and to her many |

44 | 45 | | other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
