7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Albert L. Reyes has made significant contributions |

8 | 9 | | to Buckner International as its president and CEO for the past 15 |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1879, Buckner International is a |

11 | 12 | | faith-based ministry with a focus on transforming the lives of |
---|
12 | 13 | | vulnerable children, families, and seniors; through the efforts of |
---|
13 | 14 | | its dedicated staff and volunteers, the organization provides a |
---|
14 | 15 | | wide variety of programs offering family assistance, counseling, |
---|
15 | 16 | | and other services; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Reyes has worked for Buckner International |
---|
17 | 18 | | since 2007, having previously served as president of Buckner |
---|
18 | 19 | | Children and Family Services; prior to joining Buckner, he was |
---|
19 | 20 | | president of Baptist University of the Américas in San Antonio; he |
---|
20 | 21 | | has also served as a pastor at three churches, and he led the |
---|
21 | 22 | | Baptist General Convention of Texas as president in 2005; he is |
---|
22 | 23 | | currently the vice president of the USA Region of the Baptist World |
---|
23 | 24 | | Alliance and a member of the board of trustees of the Christian |
---|
24 | 25 | | Alliance for Orphans and the Angelo State University Foundation; |
---|
25 | 26 | | his honors include the 2022 D CEO Nonprofit and Corporate |
---|
26 | 27 | | Citizenship Leadership Excellence Award and the UN Day Global |

27 | 28 | | Leadership Award, and he was selected as a member of the D CEO |

28 | 29 | | Dallas 500 in 2023; and |

29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Reyes holds a bachelor of business |

30 | 31 | | administration degree from Angelo State University, as well as a |
---|
31 | 32 | | master of divinity degree in theology and a doctor of ministry |

32 | 33 | | degree in missiology from the Southwestern Baptist Theological |
---|
33 | 34 | | Seminary; he also earned a degree in global leadership from Andrews |
---|
34 | 35 | | University; he and his family are currently active members of Park |
---|
35 | 36 | | Cities Baptist Church in Dallas; and |

36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Through his vision and leadership, Albert Reyes has |

37 | 38 | | helped advance the important mission of Buckner International, and |

38 | 39 | | he may indeed reflect with pride on his record of achievement; now, |

40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
