| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Court Reporters Association are |

| 8 | 9 | | celebrating Texas Court Reporting and Captioning Day on |

| 9 | 10 | | February 18, 2025; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Since the 1930s, TCRA has worked to advance the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | field of stenographic reporting through education and advocacy; the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | association is dedicated to promoting the accuracy and impartiality |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | that are the hallmarks of the courtroom professional, and the group |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | provides its members with a valuable forum for discussion and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | study; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Court reporters undergo several years of training to |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | achieve different levels of certification; they develop typing |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | speeds upwards of 280 words per minute, allowing them to capture |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | every word of legal proceedings; in addition, they are required to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | complete continuing education courses throughout their careers to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | ensure that they remain at the forefront of technological |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | developments and that they have full knowledge of current |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | procedures in their industry; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Court reporters play a vital role in our nation's |

| 25 | 26 | | legal system, and this observance offers an ideal opportunity to |

| 26 | 27 | | acknowledge their important contributions; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 18, 2025, as Texas Court |

| 29 | 30 | | Reporting and Captioning Day and extend to the members of the Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Court Reporters Association sincere best wishes for continued |
