| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Audubon Texas Day is taking place on February 19, |

| 8 | 9 | | 2025, at the State Capitol in celebration of the 120th anniversary |

|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The state office of the National Audubon Society, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Audubon Texas is dedicated to the conservation of birds, wildlife, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and their habitats across the Lone Star State; Texas is home to more |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | than 579 bird species, making it one of the most ecologically |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | significant states for avian biodiversity; in addition to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | protecting these species, Audubon Texas bolsters the state's |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | economy through ecotourism, bird-watching, and outdoor recreation, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | generating hundreds of millions of dollars annually; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Audubon Texas leads innovative conservation efforts |

| 19 | 20 | | across the state, including a coastal island management program |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | that dates back to 1923, nature centers in Dallas, Cedar Hill, San |

| 21 | 22 | | Antonio, and Brownsville, and initiatives that benefit grasslands, |

| 22 | 23 | | wetlands, and urban environments; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This year, the National Audubon Society marks its |

| 24 | 25 | | 120th anniversary, providing an opportunity to celebrate its long |

| 25 | 26 | | tradition of leadership in bird and habitat conservation across the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | country as well as its support of bipartisan policies that further |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | environmental stewardship at both the state and national levels; |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The mission of the National Audubon Society aligns |

| 30 | 31 | | with the principle that sound conservation policies are crucial to |

| 31 | 32 | | ensuring the protection of birds, wildlife, and natural resources |

| 32 | 33 | | for future generations; the work of Audubon Texas exemplifies the |

| 33 | 34 | | interconnectedness of conservation efforts, demonstrating that |

| 34 | 35 | | protecting habitats in the state directly contributes to national |
|---|

| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, For more than a century, Audubon Texas and the |

| 37 | 38 | | National Audubon Society have practiced careful stewardship of |

| 39 | 40 | | their invaluable work has earned the admiration and appreciation of |

| 41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 42 | 43 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 19, 2025, as Audubon Texas |

| 43 | 44 | | Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting |

| 44 | 45 | | delegation. |
