 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Former Montgomery County Sheriff Tommy Gage is being
 honored at a ceremony on February 25, 2025; and
 WHEREAS, Sheriff Gage first took office on January 1, 2005,
 and he served with distinction for more than a decade before his
 retirement in 2017; during his tenure, he oversaw the creation of
 the solo motorcycle traffic division, full-time SWAT team, and cold
 case homicide unit, and he established the county's first regional
 communication system; he also opened a new wing and kitchen at the
 county jail; his many other responsibilities included negotiating a
 contract for law enforcement services in The Woodlands; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of the Houston Police Academy, Mr. Gage
 began his career in law enforcement as an officer at the Houston
 Police Department in 1970; he joined the Montgomery County
 Sheriff's Office 12 years later, and he worked as a jail deputy,
 patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, and detective sergeant before
 accepting a promotion to detective lieutenant; he also served as
 the training coordinator for the Clint Peoples Training Academy; in
 1996, he became a lieutenant in the office of Precinct 3 Constable
 Tim Holifield, and he was later assigned to the office of Precinct 2
 Commissioner Malcom Purvis; in 2001, he took on the role of captain
 in the Precinct 3 Constable's Office; and
 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Gage served
 in the U.S. Navy and completed two tours in Vietnam as a machinist's
 mate aboard the USS Saint Paul; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the
 love and support of his wife, Ollie Nell, and he takes great pride
 in his 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished career as
 Montgomery County Sheriff, Tommy Gage demonstrated outstanding
 leadership and an exceptional commitment to upholding the highest
 standards of his profession, and he may indeed reflect with pride on
 his many achievements; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Tommy Gage for his 12 years of service as
 sheriff of Montgomery County and extend to him sincere best wishes
 for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Gage as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
