| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Rose Guerra Reyna is retiring as judge |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | of the 206th District Court on December 31, 2026, concluding her |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | tenure as the longest-serving woman in that role; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Rose Reyna first took office as judge of the 206th |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | District Court in 1999, and she has since presided over numerous |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | civil, family, felony, and juvenile cases for the court, which |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | serves Hidalgo County; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Judge Reyna |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | earned her bachelor's degree from Pan American University and her |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | juris doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law; she |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | began her career in private practice, working for the Law Offices of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Ramon Garcia before moving to Skaggs, Reyna & Garza, L.L.P., where |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | she was a partner for 11 years; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Judge Reyna has contributed to her professional |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | community as a member of several statewide task forces, as a |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | multidistrict litigation judge, and as presiding judge of the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Hidalgo County Re-entry Court; in addition, she has been involved |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | in various nonprofit organizations, and she has received numerous |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | accolades in recognition of her efforts, including the 2010 Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Center Professionalism Award from the Hidalgo County Bar |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Association and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics; in all her |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her sons, Josh and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Anthony Reyna; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, For more than a quarter century, Judge Reyna's |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | dedication, expertise, and commitment to justice have greatly |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | benefited citizens across the Lone Star State, and she may indeed |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | reflect with pride on her many achievements; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Rose Guerra Reyna on |

| 36 | 37 | | her retirement from the 206th District Court and extend to her |

| 37 | 38 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
