| 8 | 9 | | a close with the passing of George S. Cavazos Sr. of Cameron County |

| 9 | 10 | | on January 23, 2025, at the age of 85; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, George Cavazos was born in Weslaco on November 1, |

| 11 | 12 | | 1939, to Ignacio and Matilde Cavazos, and he proudly served his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | country as a member of the U.S. Army; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, For more than 45 years, Mr. Cavazos worked as a truck |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | driver; committed to his fellow citizens, he served as an alderman |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and as a member of the Santa Rosa Volunteer Fire Department; he also |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | volunteered with the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo for |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | over a quarter century and coached youth football games; he was a |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Santa Rosa; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cavazos was blessed with |

| 20 | 21 | | the love and support of his wife, Juanita, and they shared a |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | rewarding marriage of nearly six decades; the couple raised 5 |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | children, Yvonne, George, Veronica, Patricia, and Edna, and they |

| 23 | 24 | | welcomed 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren into their |

| 24 | 25 | | treasured family; Mr. Cavazos enjoyed getting dressed up to go |

| 25 | 26 | | dancing with his wife, and he supported his children and |

| 26 | 27 | | grandchildren at their sports events and award ceremonies; he liked |

| 27 | 28 | | playing softball and golf, fishing, and deer hunting; above all, he |

| 28 | 29 | | cherished spending time with his loved ones at his parents' ranch in |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his |

| 31 | 32 | | community, George Cavazos earned the lasting respect and admiration |
