| 11 | 12 | | is beginning on March 1 with the expected appearance of the crescent |

| 12 | 13 | | moon and lasts for the remainder of the lunar month; and |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food and drink |

| 14 | 15 | | from sunrise until sunset in an effort to deepen their faith and to |

| 15 | 16 | | better understand the plight of the poor and hungry; Muslims break |

| 16 | 17 | | their daily fasts by sharing meals, known as iftars, with family and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Muslims have been a part of the fabric of America |

| 26 | 27 | | walks of life, and it is indeed fitting to acknowledge the |

| 27 | 28 | | significance of this special occasion to people of the Muslim faith |
