| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Members of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas are |

| 8 | 9 | | gathering at the State Capitol on February 26, 2025, to celebrate |

| 9 | 10 | | the organization's centennial; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1924 as the Dallas Community Chest, |

| 11 | 12 | | the nonprofit initially encompassed 10 charter agencies; it |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | officially joined United Way of America in 1973, and through the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | decades, it has worked tirelessly to increase access to education, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | financial stability, and health care; today, the organization |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | serves communities across the North Texas region; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is guided by its |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Aspire United 2030 goals, a 10-year plan to improve youth literacy, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | increase the number of young adults earning a living wage, and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | ensure that affordable, high-quality health care is available to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | all North Texans; in keeping with its mission, the organization has |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | established programs such as Southern Dallas Thrives, the Social |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Innovation Lab, and the Data Capacity Building Initiative; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Over the past century, United Way of Metropolitan |

| 24 | 25 | | Dallas has distinguished itself as a force for good in area |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | communities, and the organization is indeed worthy of recognition |

| 26 | 27 | | on this special occasion; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of United Way |

| 29 | 30 | | of Metropolitan Dallas and extend to all those affiliated with the |

| 30 | 31 | | organization sincere best wishes for continued success with their |
