| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The celebration of University of North Texas Day at |

| 8 | 9 | | the State Capitol on February 25, 2025, provides a welcome |

| 9 | 10 | | opportunity to recognize this notable institution; and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1890, the University of North |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Texas has been a driving force for progress, innovation, and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | entrepreneurship; the institution is committed to setting students |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | up for success through its focus on both scholastic excellence and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | career readiness, and it offers a wide range of internationally |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | ranked programs that not only foster students' academic and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | intellectual development but also provide leadership and service |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | opportunities; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, UNT plays a major role in strengthening the economy |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | and talent pipeline in the State of Texas, with its students earning |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | some 13,000 degrees each year; the university boasts an alumni |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | network of over 480,000 graduates, which includes more than 5,000 |

| 22 | 23 | | in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who hold executive titles; moreover, |

| 23 | 24 | | many of the school's alumni have gone on to distinguish themselves |

| 24 | 25 | | in their fields of endeavor, and graduates of the UNT College of |

| 25 | 26 | | Music, a program recognized as one of the nation's best, have |

| 26 | 27 | | collectively received 119 Grammy Awards to date; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, As a Texas University Fund institution, UNT is |

| 28 | 29 | | making significant strides in expanding research initiatives that |

| 29 | 30 | | further the advancement of knowledge and lay the foundation for |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | economic, scientific, and societal development; its faculty |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | members conduct groundbreaking research in a variety of areas such |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | as biology, materials science, mechanical and energy engineering, |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | and logistics; and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its history, UNT has built a commendable |

| 35 | 36 | | reputation for academic excellence, research, and service, and it |

| 36 | 37 | | has made important contributions to the North Texas region and |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | beyond; now, therefore, be it |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Legislature hereby recognize February 25, 2025, as University of |

| 40 | 41 | | North Texas Day and extend sincere best wishes to the school's |

| 41 | 42 | | students, faculty, staff, and alumni. |
