| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, U.S. News evaluated schools across the nation and |

| 11 | 12 | | employed a comprehensive methodology to assess proficiency in |

| 12 | 13 | | mathematics and reading/language arts; the more than 79,000 public |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | elementary and middle schools that were part of their analysis were |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | ranked based on a number of additional factors, including student |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | background and achievement in core subjects; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Serving more than 8,750 students across 11 campuses, |

| 17 | 18 | | Midway ISD seeks to foster a challenging and supportive learning |

| 18 | 19 | | environment where young people are prepared to excel in a global |

| 19 | 20 | | society; the district is ably guided by superintendent Dr. Chris |

| 20 | 21 | | Allen, and it also benefits from the leadership of its board of |

| 21 | 22 | | trustees, which includes president Pete Rusek, vice president Susan |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Among the campuses recognized by U.S. News were |

| 25 | 26 | | Woodway Elementary School, which ranked in the top 6.5 percent of |

| 26 | 27 | | over 6,600 elementary schools in Texas, and South Bosque |

| 27 | 28 | | Elementary, which at No. 84 was in the top 1.2 percent; |

| 28 | 29 | | additionally, Midway Middle School placed in the top 8.5 percent of |

| 29 | 30 | | more than 4,000 middle schools statewide; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Providing young citizens with a quality education is |

| 31 | 32 | | essential to creating a prosperous future for our state and nation, |

| 32 | 33 | | and Midway ISD is to be commended for all that it is doing to help |

| 33 | 34 | | students to reach their full potential; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Midway Independent School District |
