| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Karl Allen McElhaney, a valued member of the El Paso |

| 8 | 9 | | community and a friend to many, passed away on February 9, 2025, at |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant, Mr. McElhaney enjoyed a |

| 11 | 12 | | rewarding career with El Paso County, and he contributed |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | immeasurably to the El Paso Chamber; he worked tirelessly to serve |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the people of New Mexico and Texas through partnerships with |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | elected officials at the federal and county levels, and he |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | advocated for improvements to infrastructure in rural communities; |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | he also helped to craft policies and manage congressional district |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | work and committee assignments; his integrity, skilled mentorship, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and steadfast commitment to excellence earned him the respect and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | admiration of all who knew him; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. McElhaney further gave back to his community |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | through volunteer efforts such as fostering, rescuing, and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | transporting dogs and cats for adoption programs; above all else, |

| 23 | 24 | | he treasured time spent with his family, which included his three |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | siblings, Liz, Jerry, and Jeffrey, and his son Jacob; and |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, While the death of Karl McElhaney brings great |

| 26 | 27 | | sadness to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that |

| 27 | 28 | | will long be remembered with deep affection by all those who held |

| 28 | 29 | | him dear; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Karl Allen McElhaney |
