|---|
| 15 | 16 | | inspiration from a century of grass roots activism; the Freedom |

| 16 | 17 | | Schools of the civil rights era inform the concept of Democracy |

| 17 | 18 | | Schools as a framework to explore civic capacity building and |

| 18 | 19 | | community institutions over time; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The conference brings together students, faculty, |

| 21 | 22 | | Universities, as well as interested community partners; scholars |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In its fourth year, the conference's theme is the |

| 27 | 28 | | civic power and legacy of HBCUs and Black educational history and |

| 28 | 29 | | practice; presenters will examine the collective ability of civil |

| 29 | 30 | | society groups, organizations, and institutions to strengthen and |
