| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Scott Turner previously served under President |

| 11 | 12 | | Donald J. Trump as executive director of the White House |

| 12 | 13 | | Opportunity and Revitalization Council; in that role, he led the |

| 13 | 14 | | Opportunity Zones Initiative, spearheading more than 200 policy |

| 14 | 15 | | actions to uplift economically distressed communities by |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | encouraging investment in affordable housing and new businesses; |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A fourth-generation Texan, Secretary Turner grew up |

| 18 | 19 | | in Richardson; this distinguished public servant and businessman in |

| 19 | 20 | | 2021 founded the Community Engagement & Opportunity Council, a |

| 20 | 21 | | nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities |

| 21 | 22 | | through mentorship, sports, and economic opportunity; his prior |

| 22 | 23 | | experience also includes tenures as a housing development executive |

| 23 | 24 | | at JPI, as the Texas state representative for House District 33, and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | as an associate pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church; moreover, he |

| 25 | 26 | | played nine seasons in the National Football League; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Secretary Turner holds a degree in speech |

| 27 | 28 | | communications from the University of Illinois and an honorary |

| 28 | 29 | | doctorate from Dallas Baptist University; in all his endeavors, he |

| 29 | 30 | | enjoys the love and support of his wife, Robin, and their son, |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Scott Turner has risen to national prominence as a |

| 32 | 33 | | policymaker and a strong advocate for community revitalization, and |

| 33 | 34 | | the experience he has acquired along the way is certain to serve him |

| 34 | 35 | | well in this important cabinet position; now, therefore, be it |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby honor Eric Scott Turner on the occasion of his |
