7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Brooke Rollins of Fort Worth was sworn in as the 33rd |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Glen Rose, Brooke Leslie Rollins grew up |

10 | 11 | | helping out on her family's farm and raising livestock for 4-H and |

11 | 12 | | the Future Farmers of America; she served as a Texas FFA Association |
---|
12 | 13 | | officer and worked for the National FFA Organization; a graduate of |
---|
13 | 14 | | Texas A&M University, she earned a bachelor's degree in |
---|
14 | 15 | | agricultural development with honors and had the distinction of |
---|
15 | 16 | | being elected as the first female student body president in the |
---|
16 | 17 | | university's history; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After receiving her juris doctor degree with honors |

18 | 19 | | from The University of Texas School of Law, Secretary Rollins |

19 | 20 | | served as the policy director for Governor Rick Perry; she went on |

20 | 21 | | to lead the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a free market research |
---|
21 | 22 | | institute, as president and CEO for 15 years; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Secretary Rollins previously served under President |
---|
23 | 24 | | Donald J. Trump as director of the Domestic Policy Council and as |
---|
24 | 25 | | assistant to the president for strategic initiatives; most |
---|
25 | 26 | | recently, she added to her notable record of nonprofit leadership |
---|
26 | 27 | | in her work as the founder, president, and CEO of the America First |
---|
27 | 28 | | Policy Institute; and |

28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Brooke Rollins has risen to national prominence as a |

29 | 30 | | public policy advocate and a champion for the principles of free |

30 | 31 | | enterprise and conservative governance, and the experience she has |

31 | 32 | | acquired along the way is certain to serve her well in this |
---|
32 | 33 | | important cabinet position; now, therefore, be it |

33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby honor Brooke Rollins on the occasion of her |

35 | 36 | | appointment as the 33rd United States secretary of agriculture and |
