| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, David Thomas Roberts, an esteemed Texan and friend |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to many, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the age of 65; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The son of Doris and Bob Roberts, Dave Roberts was |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on January 14, 1959; he graduated |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | from Aldine High School in Houston in 1977, and he continued his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | education at The University of Texas at Austin; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts' entrepreneurial skills and tremendous |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | work ethic brought him great success, and over the years, he |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | established a number of businesses, including Teligistics, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Defiance Press & Publishing, ProcureLogix, and Comanche Rose Ranch, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | where he realized his longtime dream of raising Longhorn cattle; in |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | addition, he held numerous patents for innovative processes in a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | variety of industries, and he authored six books, The Death of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Liberty, Purge on the Potomac, A State of Treason, Patriots of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Treason, Unemployable, and Hunt It Down, Kill It & Drag It Home; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts wed the love of his life, Rose Marquez, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | on February 23, 1984, and they enjoyed a rewarding marriage that |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | spanned four decades; he took great pride in his children, Tiffany, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Tanya, Travis, and Tanner, and with the passing years, he had the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | privilege of becoming "Papaw" to nine grandchildren, Vivi, Braeden, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Aliza, Isabel, Thomason, Lily, Travis, Amelia, and the late Adelyn |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Shelander; a Texas history buff, sports enthusiast, and true animal |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | lover, he cherished time spent with his family and friends and found |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | great fulfillment in serving as a coach and mentor; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, While the death of Dave Roberts brings immeasurable |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | sorrow to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of David Thomas Roberts |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | it further |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dave |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Roberts. |
