7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas is |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The roots of Methodist Healthcare Ministries trace |

10 | 11 | | back to 1955, when the Southwest Conference of The United Methodist |

11 | 12 | | Church approved the formation of a nonprofit to own and operate |
---|
12 | 13 | | hospitals in the name of the church; opening in 1963, the Southwest |
---|
13 | 14 | | Methodist Hospital sought to promote and deliver accessible, |
---|
14 | 15 | | quality health care to the underserved, and Methodist Healthcare |
---|
15 | 16 | | Ministries has continued to advance this mission since its |
---|
16 | 17 | | establishment in 1995; today, the Methodist Healthcare System |
---|
17 | 18 | | serves as the largest health care provider in San Antonio and 26 |
---|
18 | 19 | | surrounding counties and oversees operations at numerous |
---|
19 | 20 | | specialized area hospitals; and |

20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Methodist Healthcare Ministries offers primary |

21 | 22 | | medical and dental care as well as counseling, case management, |

22 | 23 | | social services, family wellness, and church-based community |
---|
23 | 24 | | nursing programs to patients across 74 counties; the nonprofit |
---|
24 | 25 | | organization also oversees grant-making and policy initiatives, |

25 | 26 | | and it has worked with more than 150 funding partners to ensure |

26 | 27 | | affordable services to all; together, they have invested over |

27 | 28 | | $82 million in community grants, strategic initiatives, and policy |

42 | 43 | | for its leadership, strategic planning, measurement, analysis and |

43 | 44 | | knowledge management, results, and focus on its customers, |

44 | 45 | | workforce, and operations; and |

45 | 46 | | WHEREAS, Methodist Healthcare Ministries has provided expert |

46 | 47 | | and compassionate care to countless men, women, and children in San |

47 | 48 | | Antonio and beyond, and the members of its medical, support, and |

48 | 49 | | administrative staff may indeed take great pride in its outstanding |

49 | 50 | | record of service over the past three decades; now, therefore, be it |

50 | 51 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

51 | 52 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of Methodist |

52 | 53 | | Healthcare Ministries of South Texas and extend to all those |

53 | 54 | | associated with the organization sincere best wishes for the |
