No. 443 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A delegation from the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy is visiting the State Capitol on March 4, 2025, for the organization's Legislative Advocacy Day; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1975, the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy is made up of physicians and health care professionals who are dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of digestive diseases, including colorectal cancer; the organization, which has more than 800 members, also provides continuing medical education to physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses and advocates for policies that support patient access to life-saving screenings, strengthen the health care workforce, and advance innovations in gastroenterology; and WHEREAS, March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize TSGE and highlight the importance of screening, early detection, and prevention; while colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, it is one of the most preventable types of cancer when caught early; Texas has made progress in increasing access to screenings, but there is still work to be done to ensure that all Texans, especially those in underserved communities, have the opportunity to detect and prevent this disease; and WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy is working to ensure that Texas remains a leader in digestive care and cancer prevention, and its members should be commended for their efforts to improve health care across the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas Legislature hereby recognize March 4, 2025, as Legislative Advocacy Day for the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting delegation.
