| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1975, the Texas Society of |

| 11 | 12 | | Gastroenterology and Endoscopy is made up of physicians and health |

| 12 | 13 | | care professionals who are dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, |

| 13 | 14 | | and treatment of digestive diseases, including colorectal cancer; |

| 14 | 15 | | the organization, which has more than 800 members, also provides |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | continuing medical education to physicians, advanced practice |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | providers, and nurses and advocates for policies that support |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | patient access to life-saving screenings, strengthen the health |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | care workforce, and advance innovations in gastroenterology; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | providing a fitting opportunity to recognize TSGE and highlight the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | importance of screening, early detection, and prevention; while |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | deaths in the United States, it is one of the most preventable types |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | of cancer when caught early; Texas has made progress in increasing |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | access to screenings, but there is still work to be done to ensure |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | that all Texans, especially those in underserved communities, have |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | the opportunity to detect and prevent this disease; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy |

| 29 | 30 | | is working to ensure that Texas remains a leader in digestive care |

| 30 | 31 | | and cancer prevention, and its members should be commended for |

| 31 | 32 | | their efforts to improve health care across the Lone Star State; |
