| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, the Missouri City Mayor's |

| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The Missouri City Mayor's Youth Commission (MYC) was |

| 12 | 13 | | established in 1996 as a means of fostering leadership skills, |

| 13 | 14 | | personal growth, and a sense of civic responsibility among area |

| 14 | 15 | | youth; individuals are selected for the program based on their |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | leadership potential and their commitment to serving others and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | cultivating positive change; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Members of the MYC are offered the chance to |

| 18 | 19 | | interact with city officials and voice their opinions, helping |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | ensure that the perspectives of younger generations are given |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | consideration in the local decision-making process; they attend |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | workshops and meetings that are designed to hone their |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | they work together on various projects that promote service and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | volunteerism and address the needs of area residents; all members |

| 25 | 26 | | are expected to demonstrate good character in their daily lives and |

| 26 | 27 | | to strive to set a positive example for their peers; and |

| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The Missouri City Mayor's Youth Commission is |

| 28 | 29 | | strengthening the community by helping to develop the public |

| 29 | 30 | | servants and civic leaders of tomorrow, and the bright young men and |

| 30 | 31 | | women who are part of the commission may indeed take pride in their |

| 31 | 32 | | involvement in this worthwhile endeavor; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby honor the Missouri City Mayor's Youth Commission |

| 34 | 35 | | and commend the members of the organization for their exceptional |

| 35 | 36 | | dedication and initiative; and, be it further |
