67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, The life of an admired public servant drew to a close
89 with the passing of Bremond mayor Richard Swick on February 22,
910 2025, at the age of 69; and
1011 WHEREAS, The son of Pete Swick and Regina Bielamowicz Swick,
1112 Ricky Swick was born in Marlin on January 28, 1956, and he grew up
1213 with the companionship of two sisters, Monica and Debbie; in 1974,
1314 he graduated from Bremond High School, and he went on to enjoy a
1415 long and rewarding career with GATX, where he worked for 42 years;
1516 and
1617 WHEREAS, On May 19, 1979, Mr. Swick married the love of his
1718 life, the former Beverly Cox, and the couple shared a rewarding
1819 marriage that spanned more than four and a half decades; they were
1920 blessed with four children, Katie Jo, Alex, Aaron, and Kurt, and
2021 over the years, their treasured family grew to include seven
2122 grandchildren; and
2223 WHEREAS, Committed to his community, Mr. Swick served on the
2324 Bremond City Council from 1981 until he was elected to his first
2425 term as mayor of Bremond in 1988; he held that position until 2005,
2526 and in 2009, he returned to the office, serving until his passing;
2627 in addition, he was active with the Bremond Chamber of Commerce and
2728 the Knights of Columbus, and he was a valued member of St. Mary's
2829 Catholic Church; and
2930 WHEREAS, Although Ricky Swick's death has brought great
3031 sorrow to those who loved him, his life was an inspiring example of
3132 the good that one person can accomplish; now, therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Swick and
3435 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
3536 Beverly Swick; to his children, Katie Jo Curtis and her husband,
3637 Kelly, Alex Swick and his wife, Rachel, Aaron Swick and his wife,
3738 Melissa, and Kurt Swick; to his honorary son, Todd Swick; to his
3839 sisters, Monica Stem and her husband, Greg, and Debbie Hernandez
3940 and her husband, Gene; to his mother, Regina Lloyd; to his
4041 grandchildren, Tori, Owen, Rylee, and Rhett Swick, Koty Curtis, and
4142 Noah and Jude Ruggeri; to his niece, Sarah Stem; and to his other
4243 relatives and friends; and, be it further
4344 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4445 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4546 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ricky
4647 Swick.
