| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The life of an admired public servant drew to a close |

| 8 | 9 | | with the passing of Bremond mayor Richard Swick on February 22, |

| 9 | 10 | | 2025, at the age of 69; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The son of Pete Swick and Regina Bielamowicz Swick, |

| 11 | 12 | | Ricky Swick was born in Marlin on January 28, 1956, and he grew up |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | with the companionship of two sisters, Monica and Debbie; in 1974, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | he graduated from Bremond High School, and he went on to enjoy a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | long and rewarding career with GATX, where he worked for 42 years; |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, On May 19, 1979, Mr. Swick married the love of his |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | life, the former Beverly Cox, and the couple shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | marriage that spanned more than four and a half decades; they were |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | blessed with four children, Katie Jo, Alex, Aaron, and Kurt, and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | over the years, their treasured family grew to include seven |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Committed to his community, Mr. Swick served on the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Bremond City Council from 1981 until he was elected to his first |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | term as mayor of Bremond in 1988; he held that position until 2005, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | and in 2009, he returned to the office, serving until his passing; |

| 26 | 27 | | in addition, he was active with the Bremond Chamber of Commerce and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | the Knights of Columbus, and he was a valued member of St. Mary's |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Catholic Church; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although Ricky Swick's death has brought great |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | sorrow to those who loved him, his life was an inspiring example of |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | the good that one person can accomplish; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard Swick and |

| 34 | 35 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
