77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Mike Gleason of Cedar Park demonstrated an exemplary
99 commitment to public service as sheriff of Williamson County; and
1010 WHEREAS, Mr. Gleason was elected sheriff in November 2020 and
1111 held the office until the end of 2024; among his many
1212 accomplishments, he secured pay increases for corrections and law
1313 enforcement officers, reinstated the crisis intervention team, and
1414 established a jail-to-jobs program for inmates; he also served on a
1515 number of boards and committees, including the Williamson County
1616 Children's Advocacy Center Board, Bluebonnet Trails Community
1717 Services Board, Sheriffs' Association of Texas Board, and Major
1818 County Sheriffs of America Foundation Committee; and
1919 WHEREAS, Over the course of his 24 years with the Williamson
2020 County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Gleason demonstrated exceptional
2121 leadership ability as he rose through the agency's ranks; he began
2222 his career in corrections before becoming a licensed peace officer,
2323 and he went on to serve in such pivotal command positions as
2424 lieutenant of headquarters administration, captain of patrol
2525 services, and assistant chief deputy of corrections; and
2626 WHEREAS, A recipient of the Dr. James Moritz Endowed
2727 Scholarship from the 100 Club of Texas, Mr. Gleason graduated from
2828 the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; he also
2929 studied at the Correctional Management Institute of Texas at Sam
3030 Houston State University; and
3131 WHEREAS, Throughout his long career in law enforcement, Mike
3232 Gleason has dedicated himself to the safety and well-being of his
3333 fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with great pride on his
3434 many achievements; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3636 Legislature hereby commend Mike Gleason for his service to
3737 Williamson County and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
3838 future; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for Mr. Gleason as an expression of high regard by the
4141 Texas House of Representatives.
