| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mike Gleason of Cedar Park demonstrated an exemplary |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | commitment to public service as sheriff of Williamson County; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Gleason was elected sheriff in November 2020 and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | held the office until the end of 2024; among his many |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | accomplishments, he secured pay increases for corrections and law |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | enforcement officers, reinstated the crisis intervention team, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | established a jail-to-jobs program for inmates; he also served on a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | number of boards and committees, including the Williamson County |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Children's Advocacy Center Board, Bluebonnet Trails Community |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Services Board, Sheriffs' Association of Texas Board, and Major |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | County Sheriffs of America Foundation Committee; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his 24 years with the Williamson |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Gleason demonstrated exceptional |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | leadership ability as he rose through the agency's ranks; he began |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | his career in corrections before becoming a licensed peace officer, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and he went on to serve in such pivotal command positions as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | lieutenant of headquarters administration, captain of patrol |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | services, and assistant chief deputy of corrections; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A recipient of the Dr. James Moritz Endowed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Scholarship from the 100 Club of Texas, Mr. Gleason graduated from |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; he also |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | studied at the Correctional Management Institute of Texas at Sam |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Houston State University; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his long career in law enforcement, Mike |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Gleason has dedicated himself to the safety and well-being of his |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | fellow Texans, and he may indeed reflect with great pride on his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | many achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby commend Mike Gleason for his service to |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Williamson County and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 40 | 40 | | prepared for Mr. Gleason as an expression of high regard by the |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Texas House of Representatives. |
