| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Kristi Leff of Humphrey's Highland Elementary |

| 8 | 9 | | School in the Amarillo Independent School District was named the |

| 9 | 10 | | 2025 Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Texas Association |

| 10 | 11 | | of School Administrators; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Since 1969, the Texas Teacher of the Year program |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | has recognized and rewarded faculty members who have demonstrated |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | an outstanding commitment to classroom education and whose efforts |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and example have inspired their students, their colleagues, and the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | communities they serve; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Leff has enjoyed a rewarding career in education |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | that has spanned more than two decades; she taught at schools in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Florida as well as in the Calallen and Mathis Independent School |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Districts, and she joined Humphrey's Highland Elementary in |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Amarillo ISD in 2015; she currently teaches fifth-grade classes in |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | science and English/language arts, and over the course of her |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | tenure, she has worked tirelessly to foster an engaging and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | inclusive learning environment; she has further distinguished |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | herself as a trusted mentor to her colleagues; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Active in her professional community, Ms. Leff is a |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | member of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association and the National |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Science Teachers Association, and she has participated in a number |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | of state and national education conferences and workshops; among |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | her many achievements, she has been named Campus Teacher of the Year |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | three times, and she was recognized as a Master Teacher by the Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Education Agency; she holds an associate's degree in education from |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Brevard Community College, a bachelor's degree in elementary |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | education from Rollins College, and a master's degree in special |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | education from Lamar University; and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Through her exceptional dedication, Kristi Leff has |

| 36 | 37 | | helped countless young Texans gain the confidence they need to |

| 37 | 38 | | realize their full potential both in and outside the classroom, and |

| 38 | 39 | | she is indeed deserving of this prestigious accolade; now, |

| 40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 41 | 42 | | Legislature hereby commend Kristi Leff on her selection as the 2025 |

| 42 | 43 | | Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year and extend to her sincere best |
