7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The observance of International Women's Day on |

8 | 9 | | March 8, 2025, provides a fitting opportunity to recognize Texas |

9 | 10 | | Women's Foundation for its notable contributions; and |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, This outstanding organization can trace its history |
---|
11 | 12 | | to 1985, when a group of 19 brave and bold women, including the |
---|
12 | 13 | | Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison, established Dallas Women's |
---|
13 | 14 | | Foundation to help ensure that adequate resources were being |
---|
14 | 15 | | directed to address the needs of women and girls; over the years, |
---|
15 | 16 | | the organization has expanded to serve communities across Texas, |
---|
16 | 17 | | and it has invested $85 million in research, advocacy, grantmaking, |
---|
17 | 18 | | and leadership development to create an equitable society in which |
---|
18 | 19 | | women and girls can fully participate; and |
---|
19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, Texas Women's Foundation has |
---|
20 | 21 | | impacted more than 90,000 women, girls, and families statewide |
---|
21 | 22 | | through its economic security initiatives and its investment in |
---|
22 | 23 | | lifecycle leadership development, including programs such as |
---|
23 | 24 | | #BestSelf, the Young Women's Initiative, the Women's Leadership |
---|
24 | 25 | | Institute, and the annual Leadership Forum & Awards Celebration; |
---|
25 | 26 | | the organization has benefited from the generous support of its |
---|
26 | 27 | | donors and philanthropic partners, which include the Hispanic 100 |
---|
27 | 28 | | Latina Giving Circle, the Orchid Giving Circle, and the Village |
---|
28 | 29 | | Giving Circle; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Texas Women's Foundation commissions biannual |

30 | 31 | | research on the barriers that challenge the economic security, |
---|
31 | 32 | | stability, and success of Texas women and families and that |
---|
32 | 33 | | negatively impact the state's economy; the organization freely |

33 | 34 | | shares its Economic Issues for Women in Texas Report to inform |

34 | 35 | | corporate and community leaders, policymakers, and lawmakers |
---|
35 | 36 | | statewide as they work to support meaningful change in the lives of |

36 | 37 | | the 14.7 million women and girls who call Texas home; and |
---|
37 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Over the past four decades, Texas Women's Foundation |

38 | 39 | | has empowered numerous women to build an even brighter future for |

39 | 40 | | themselves and their communities, and the organization is truly |

40 | 41 | | deserving of special recognition for its many achievements; now, |

42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

43 | 44 | | Legislature hereby honor Texas Women's Foundation on the occasion |
