67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, House District 76, located in Fort Bend County, is a
89 diverse, culturally rich, and economically vibrant region of almost
910 200,000 Texans; and
1011 WHEREAS, Nearly 78 percent of the district's population
1112 identifies as non-Anglo, making it one of the most ethnically
1213 diverse in Texas, and the district is home to a significant number
1314 of Asian, Black, and Hispanic residents who contribute greatly to
1415 its multicultural character; and
1516 WHEREAS, The thriving communities of House District 76
1617 include the cities of Sugar Land, Richmond, Stafford, and Meadows
1718 Place as well as unincorporated areas of Fort Bend County, each
1819 playing a vital role in the growth and economic development of the
1920 district; and
2021 WHEREAS, Students residing in House District 76 are served by
2122 several outstanding school districts, including the Fort Bend
2223 Independent School District, Lamar Consolidated Independent School
2324 District, and Stafford Municipal School District, which are all
2425 dedicated to providing a high-quality education and preparing the
2526 area's future leaders for success; and
2627 WHEREAS, Coupled with its small businesses, House District
2728 76's robust health care, technology, and education sectors are key
2829 contributors to job creation and economic vitality that benefit
2930 both the local community and Texas at large; and
3031 WHEREAS, The district boasts a highly educated workforce,
3132 with close to 46 percent of residents holding a bachelor's degree or
3233 higher; a large percentage of the district's population is employed
3334 in the professional services, education, health care, and
3435 technology sectors, reinforcing the state's standing as a leader in
3536 innovation and economic opportunity; and
3637 WHEREAS, House District 76 Day at the State Capitol provides
3738 an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and
3839 unique character of the district, to promote awareness of its
3940 dynamic communities, and to advocate for policies that support its
4041 continued growth and prosperity; now, therefore, be it
4142 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
4243 Legislature hereby recognize March 31, 2025, as House District 76
4344 Day at the State Capitol and commend the residents, business
4445 leaders, educators, and community advocates of House District 76
4546 for their dedication to making Texas a stronger and more inclusive
4647 state.
