7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, House District 76, located in Fort Bend County, is a |

9 | 10 | | 200,000 Texans; and |

10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Nearly 78 percent of the district's population |
---|
11 | 12 | | identifies as non-Anglo, making it one of the most ethnically |
---|
12 | 13 | | diverse in Texas, and the district is home to a significant number |
---|
13 | 14 | | of Asian, Black, and Hispanic residents who contribute greatly to |
---|
14 | 15 | | its multicultural character; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The thriving communities of House District 76 |
---|
16 | 17 | | include the cities of Sugar Land, Richmond, Stafford, and Meadows |
---|
17 | 18 | | Place as well as unincorporated areas of Fort Bend County, each |
---|
18 | 19 | | playing a vital role in the growth and economic development of the |
---|
19 | 20 | | district; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Students residing in House District 76 are served by |
---|
21 | 22 | | several outstanding school districts, including the Fort Bend |
---|
22 | 23 | | Independent School District, Lamar Consolidated Independent School |
---|
23 | 24 | | District, and Stafford Municipal School District, which are all |
---|
24 | 25 | | dedicated to providing a high-quality education and preparing the |
---|
25 | 26 | | area's future leaders for success; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Coupled with its small businesses, House District |
---|
27 | 28 | | 76's robust health care, technology, and education sectors are key |
---|
28 | 29 | | contributors to job creation and economic vitality that benefit |
---|
29 | 30 | | both the local community and Texas at large; and |
---|
30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, The district boasts a highly educated workforce, |
---|
31 | 32 | | with close to 46 percent of residents holding a bachelor's degree or |
---|
32 | 33 | | higher; a large percentage of the district's population is employed |
---|
33 | 34 | | in the professional services, education, health care, and |
---|
34 | 35 | | technology sectors, reinforcing the state's standing as a leader in |
---|
35 | 36 | | innovation and economic opportunity; and |

36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, House District 76 Day at the State Capitol provides |
---|
37 | 38 | | an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and |
---|
38 | 39 | | unique character of the district, to promote awareness of its |
---|
39 | 40 | | dynamic communities, and to advocate for policies that support its |
---|
40 | 41 | | continued growth and prosperity; now, therefore, be it |

41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

42 | 43 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 31, 2025, as House District 76 |
---|
43 | 44 | | Day at the State Capitol and commend the residents, business |
---|
44 | 45 | | leaders, educators, and community advocates of House District 76 |
---|
45 | 46 | | for their dedication to making Texas a stronger and more inclusive |
---|
46 | 47 | | state. |
