67 R E S O L U T I O N
78 WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort the
89 family and friends of Leonard Frank Iltis Jr. of Georgetown, who
910 passed away on April 3, 2024, at the age of 87; and
1011 WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on November 29, 1936, to Leon and
1112 Vera Iltis, Leonard Iltis grew up with the companionship of two
1213 brothers, Alois and Thomas, and two sisters, Mildred and Carolyn;
1314 he graduated from Little Flower School in San Antonio and went on to
1415 marry the love of his life, the former Geraldine Waldo, on January
1516 25, 1957; he shared 65 years of marriage with Mrs. Iltis until her
1617 passing in 2022, and the couple became the parents of four children,
1718 Wayne, Lynne, Glenn, and Andrea; over the years, Mr. Iltis was
1819 further blessed with eight grandchildren and five
1920 great-grandchildren, all of whom he treasured deeply; and
2021 WHEREAS, Mr. Iltis moved with his family to Austin in 1966
2122 and enjoyed a career as an aviation mechanic and supervisor with the
2223 Texas National Guard; while serving in the National Guard, he
2324 assisted in disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane
2425 Beulah in 1967 and Hurricane Celia in 1970; and
2526 WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Mr. Iltis was active at
2627 St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, and he also found
2728 fulfillment in his involvement with the Society of St. Vincent de
2829 Paul and the Knights of Columbus; his desire to help others led him
2930 to volunteer for many years at The Caring Place in Georgetown, where
3031 he used his ability to repair machinery to support the
3132 organization's thrift store; he never hesitated to lend a helping
3233 hand to a friend or neighbor in need, and he had a wonderful sense of
3334 humor that endeared him to everyone; and
3435 WHEREAS, Admired for his devotion to his family and his
3536 generosity of spirit, Leonard Iltis enriched the lives of all who
3637 knew him, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now,
3738 therefore, be it
3839 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3940 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Leonard Frank
4041 Iltis Jr. and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family:
4142 to his sons, Wayne Iltis and his wife, Sandi, and Glenn Iltis and
4243 his wife, Julie; to his daughters, Lynne Dodge and Andrea Ramirez
4344 and her husband, Fletcher; to his brothers, Alois Iltis and Thomas
4445 Iltis; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his
4546 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4647 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4748 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4849 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leonard
4950 Iltis.
