7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort the |

8 | 9 | | family and friends of Leonard Frank Iltis Jr. of Georgetown, who |

9 | 10 | | passed away on April 3, 2024, at the age of 87; and |
---|
10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on November 29, 1936, to Leon and |
---|
11 | 12 | | Vera Iltis, Leonard Iltis grew up with the companionship of two |
---|
12 | 13 | | brothers, Alois and Thomas, and two sisters, Mildred and Carolyn; |
---|
13 | 14 | | he graduated from Little Flower School in San Antonio and went on to |
---|
14 | 15 | | marry the love of his life, the former Geraldine Waldo, on January |
---|
15 | 16 | | 25, 1957; he shared 65 years of marriage with Mrs. Iltis until her |
---|
16 | 17 | | passing in 2022, and the couple became the parents of four children, |
---|
17 | 18 | | Wayne, Lynne, Glenn, and Andrea; over the years, Mr. Iltis was |
---|
18 | 19 | | further blessed with eight grandchildren and five |
---|
19 | 20 | | great-grandchildren, all of whom he treasured deeply; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Iltis moved with his family to Austin in 1966 |
---|
21 | 22 | | and enjoyed a career as an aviation mechanic and supervisor with the |
---|
22 | 23 | | Texas National Guard; while serving in the National Guard, he |
---|
23 | 24 | | assisted in disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane |
---|
24 | 25 | | Beulah in 1967 and Hurricane Celia in 1970; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A man of strong faith, Mr. Iltis was active at |
---|
26 | 27 | | St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, and he also found |
---|
27 | 28 | | fulfillment in his involvement with the Society of St. Vincent de |
---|
28 | 29 | | Paul and the Knights of Columbus; his desire to help others led him |
---|
29 | 30 | | to volunteer for many years at The Caring Place in Georgetown, where |
---|
30 | 31 | | he used his ability to repair machinery to support the |
---|
31 | 32 | | organization's thrift store; he never hesitated to lend a helping |
---|
32 | 33 | | hand to a friend or neighbor in need, and he had a wonderful sense of |
---|
33 | 34 | | humor that endeared him to everyone; and |
---|
34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Admired for his devotion to his family and his |
---|
35 | 36 | | generosity of spirit, Leonard Iltis enriched the lives of all who |
---|
36 | 37 | | knew him, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; now, |

37 | 38 | | therefore, be it |

38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

39 | 40 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Leonard Frank |

42 | 43 | | his wife, Julie; to his daughters, Lynne Dodge and Andrea Ramirez |
