| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The grand opening of the John Ashman Fire Training |

| 8 | 9 | | Complex in Lewisville is taking place on February 10, 2025; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Located at the site of the old Lewisville Fire |

| 10 | 11 | | Training Center, the $6.9 million facility was built through a |

| 11 | 12 | | collaborative effort between the cities of Lewisville, Flower |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Mound, and Highland Village; firefighters from each community will |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | use the facility to prepare for a variety of emergencies, including |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | fire, disaster management, technical rescue, and complex medical |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | scenarios; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The training complex is named in honor of the late |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | John Ashman, who served with the Lewisville Fire Department for |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | four decades, including seven years as the training chief, before |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | his passing in May 2023; the facility features a live fire training |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | environment with a two-story residential structure and a |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | three-story commercial building as well as access to a drill tower |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | and classrooms; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The skilled first responders of the Lewisville, |

| 24 | 25 | | Flower Mound, and Highland Village Fire Departments have |

| 25 | 26 | | demonstrated an exceptional commitment to protecting the lives and |

| 26 | 27 | | property of their fellow citizens, and this new facility will help |

| 27 | 28 | | support their important work; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the grand opening of the John Ashman |

| 30 | 31 | | Fire Training Complex and commend all those who were involved in |

| 31 | 32 | | bringing this project to fruition; and, be it further |
