78 WHEREAS, Kyle residents celebrated the last night of Hanukkah
89 with a citywide Menorah Lighting Ceremony on December 14, 2023; and
910 WHEREAS, The first-ever community-wide menorah lighting in
1011 Kyle, this special event was hosted by Chabad of San Marcos in
1112 collaboration with Bear Heiser of the Kyle City Council and members
1213 of the local Jewish community; and
1314 WHEREAS, The Kyle Menorah Lighting Ceremony was part of a
1415 worldwide campaign designed to share the story of Hanukkah and to
1516 celebrate the Jewish holiday's message of light vanquishing
1617 darkness; Chabad groups throughout Texas have presented a variety
1718 of Hanukkah events that foster the spirit of the holiday, including
1819 menorah lightings, parades, latke parties, and giant dreidel
1920 houses; and
2021 WHEREAS, The Menorah Lighting Ceremony in Kyle offered area
2122 Texans the opportunity to share in the rich traditions associated
2223 with Hanukkah, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the members
2324 of the area's Jewish community; now, therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
2526 Legislature hereby commemorate the inaugural Kyle Menorah Lighting
2627 Ceremony.
