| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Robert Thomas Savely is celebrating his 90th |

| 8 | 9 | | birthday on March 27, 2025, and this occasion provides a welcome |

| 9 | 10 | | opportunity for family, friends, and members of his community to |

| 10 | 11 | | express the respect and admiration they hold for this esteemed NASA |

| 11 | 12 | | scientist; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In 1935, Robert Savely was born on a farm in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Nebraska; answering his nation's call to duty, he enlisted in the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | U.S. military, serving with distinction and laying the foundation |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | for a remarkable career with NASA; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Savely embarked on his tenure with NASA in 1963; |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | among his many achievements over the years, he created an AI program |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and was instrumental in the advancement of technology as chief |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | scientist for robotics; moreover, he developed a computer language, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and he worked with his colleagues to efficiently manage mission |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | control shifts; a distinguished senior scientist, he is the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | recipient of a multitude of accolades from NASA, including the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Manned Spacecraft Center Superior Achievement Award for his |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | preparation of computations and analyses for the Apollo 13 crew and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the Exceptional Service Medal for his commitment to excellence in |

| 26 | 27 | | the research and development of innovative technology; moreover, he |

| 27 | 28 | | has been honored with Group Achievement Awards for his outstanding |

| 28 | 29 | | efforts with the space shuttle program and the Earth resources |

| 34 | 35 | | the Clear Lake City Water Authority Board of Directors for more than |

| 35 | 36 | | four decades; in all his endeavors, Mr. Savely benefits from the |

| 36 | 37 | | love and support of his wife of over 65 years, their two children, |

| 37 | 38 | | and their grandchildren; he is known for his generosity and |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | willingness to help others, and he has enjoyed tutoring students in |
|---|

| 40 | 41 | | WHEREAS, With the passage of another year, Robert Savely may |

| 41 | 42 | | reflect with pride on his wide-ranging accomplishments and on the |
|---|
| 42 | 43 | | many significant contributions he has made in behalf of his fellow |

| 43 | 44 | | citizens; now, therefore, be it |

| 44 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
