| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1855 from Bosque and Navarro |

| 11 | 12 | | Counties, Parker County is named for Isaac Parker, who brought 224 |

| 12 | 13 | | settlers to the region in that same year; the county's population |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and economy continued to expand during the late 19th century, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | spurred by the construction of three railroads in the area; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Springtown was established in 1859 by Captain Joseph |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Ward of New Jersey, who was impressed by the area's natural beauty |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and its 25 cold springs; originally known as Littleton Springs, it |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | was renamed Springtown in the 1870s and incorporated in 1884; the |

| 19 | 20 | | county seat, Weatherford, was incorporated in 1858 and named in |

| 20 | 21 | | honor of state senator Jefferson Weatherford, who co-authored the |

| 21 | 22 | | bill establishing the county; for its first decade, the town was the |

| 22 | 23 | | principal frontier settlement in North Texas; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Over the decades, Parker County has undergone many |

| 24 | 25 | | changes and today benefits from a diverse market centered on |

| 26 | 27 | | beef cattle, dairy cows, and horses and growing pecans and peaches; |

| 31 | 32 | | old-time Farmers Market, as well as First Monday Trade Days, one of |

| 32 | 33 | | the oldest open-air markets in Texas; named the Peach Capital of |

| 33 | 34 | | Texas, Weatherford has drawn more than 45,000 attendees for the |

| 34 | 35 | | Parker County Peach Festival, and because of its deep roots in the |

| 35 | 36 | | cutting horse industry and its proximity to the headquarters of the |
