| 8 | 9 | | on March 19, 2025, to celebrate Palmview Day at the State Capitol; |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Located in southern Hidalgo County, in the Rio |

| 11 | 12 | | Grande Valley, Palmview can trace its heritage to the town of Mamie, |

| 12 | 13 | | which was established in 1904 as a stop along the St. Louis, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Brownsville and Mexico Railway; in 1972, a group of local residents |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | led a drive to create an autonomous community, and their efforts |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | resulted in the establishment of the city of Palmview; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In the years since, Palmview has experienced |

| 17 | 18 | | significant growth and is now home to more than 15,800 residents; |

| 18 | 19 | | the community is situated between the busy retail areas of central |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Hidalgo County and the slower-paced, yet growing Starr County to |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Palmview's expansion has created a range of new |

| 22 | 23 | | business opportunities, and the city's municipal development |

| 23 | 24 | | district is working with entrepreneurs to spur further economic |

| 24 | 25 | | activity; moreover, officials are devoted to enhancing services to |

| 25 | 26 | | benefit the city's growing population and, to that end, have |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | cooperated with agencies such as the Texas Water Development Board |

| 27 | 28 | | and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to pursue |

| 28 | 29 | | infrastructure projects; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Home to an engaged citizenry and city government, |
