 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The baseball team from Tomball High School closed
 out an unforgettable season by winning the 2024 University
 Interscholastic League 6A state championship on June 8 at Dell
 Diamond in Round Rock; and
 WHEREAS, During the regular season, the Cougars lost just
 three games in total and were unbeaten after early March; the
 Tomball players carried their stellar play into the postseason,
 defeating the teams from Cypress Falls, Conroe Grand Oaks, Willis,
 Rockwall, and Bridgeland High Schools before earning a victory over
 San Antonio Johnson High in the semifinal round of the state
 tournament; with that triumph, they advanced to a showdown against
 Pearland High School in the championship game; and
 WHEREAS, With the state crown on the line, the Cougars
 unleashed an offensive flurry in the fourth inning of the title
 contest to take a 4-0 lead; the team maintained its momentum with
 solid pitching and defense throughout the game, ultimately claiming
 a 4-1 win and securing the second state baseball championship in the
 school's history; led by the dominant pitching of sophomores
 C. J. Sampson and Karson Reeder, the Cougars allowed only one run
 in the 14 innings played during the state tournament and just 15
 runs across 12 playoff games; Tomball's 2024 winning streak
 ultimately totaled 30 games, and the squad achieved a No. 1 state
 ranking and a No. 2 national ranking from MaxPreps; and
 WHEREAS, The Cougars excelled with a true team effort,
 receiving valuable contributions throughout the year from each
 member of the roster; these talented student-athletes benefited
 from the guidance of head coach Doug Rush and his staff; and
 WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
 culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
 commitment to excellence, and all those associated with the 2024
 Tomball Cougars baseball team will treasure the memory of this
 accomplishment for the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Tomball High School baseball
 team on winning the 2024 UIL 6A state championship and extend to the
 players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
