| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot fully express the sorrow felt at the |

| 8 | 9 | | loss of Deputy Ruben Garcia of the Cameron County Constable's |

| 9 | 10 | | Office, who died in the line of duty on September 30, 2024, at the |

| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ruben Garcia was born in Albion, Michigan, on |

| 12 | 13 | | March 10, 1975, to Carmen Garcia and Raul Cantu; he also enjoyed the |

| 13 | 14 | | affection of his sister, Rebecca, and several nieces and nephews; |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia first joined the force as a member of the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Cameron County Sheriff's Office, and he went on to serve the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | community with tremendous integrity and professionalism; after 22 |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | years, he transferred to the Cameron County Precinct 1 Constable's |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Office, and he distinguished himself as an asset to that agency for |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | nearly two years; he was admired and respected by his colleagues for |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | the compassion and kindness that he brought to the job; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a loving family, Deputy Garcia |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | cherished the relationship he shared with his wife, Mayra Garcia, |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | and he was the proud father of three children, Ruben, Damian, and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Camila; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, While the death of Ruben Garcia brings immeasurable |

| 27 | 28 | | sadness to his loved ones and colleagues, he leaves behind a legacy |

| 28 | 29 | | of selfless service that will continue to inspire all who had the |

| 29 | 30 | | privilege of knowing him; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
