---|
9 | 10 | | March 19, 2025; and |
---|
10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Texas plays a pivotal part in the U.S. hydrogen |
---|
11 | 12 | | economy, producing nearly one-third of the nation's hydrogen, |
---|
12 | 13 | | primarily from its abundant natural gas resources; the state |
---|
13 | 14 | | benefits from a well-established energy sector, including the |
---|
14 | 15 | | country's largest hydrogen pipeline network, spanning more than |
---|
15 | 16 | | 1,100 miles along the Gulf Coast, and significant industrial hubs |
---|
16 | 17 | | such as Houston, which is often referred to as the "Energy Capital |
---|
17 | 18 | | of the World"; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, While the United States is expanding its hydrogen |
---|
19 | 20 | | infrastructure, Texas stands out due to its robust existing |
---|
20 | 21 | | framework and ongoing investments in hydrogen projects; this |
---|
21 | 22 | | positions the state as a leader in the transition to a clean |
---|
22 | 23 | | hydrogen economy, contributing significantly to national goals |
---|
23 | 24 | | while serving as a model for leveraging traditional energy assets |
---|
24 | 25 | | for future energy solutions; and |
---|
25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Advances in hydrogen technology help reduce |
---|
26 | 27 | | emissions by providing a clean energy alternative; green hydrogen |
---|
27 | 28 | | emits no carbon dioxide, which supports decarbonization in such |
---|
28 | 29 | | industries as steel, cement, and chemical, while hydrogen fuel |
---|
29 | 30 | | cells power vehicles with water as the only byproduct; moreover, |
---|
30 | 31 | | hydrogen also enables renewable energy storage and grid stability, |
---|
31 | 32 | | while blue hydrogen captures carbon dioxide during production; |
---|
32 | 33 | | together, these innovations improve air quality and drive a |
---|
33 | 34 | | sustainable energy future; and |
---|
34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Hydrogen is a vital component of everyday life, |
---|
35 | 36 | | enabling the production of ammonia for fertilizers, fuels for |
---|
36 | 37 | | transportation, and methanol for plastics, resins, and adhesives |
---|
37 | 38 | | used in household goods; by 2050, the clean hydrogen economy in |
---|
38 | 39 | | Texas could encompass 180,000 jobs, boost the state GDP by |
---|
39 | 40 | | $100 billion, or 6 percent, and produce 21 million tons of clean |
---|
40 | 41 | | hydrogen, driving significant economic and energy growth; as |
---|
41 | 42 | | hydrogen technology scales, it plays an instrumental role in |
---|
42 | 43 | | reducing energy costs, enhancing grid reliability, and positioning |
---|
43 | 44 | | the U.S. as a global leader in clean energy exports, bolstering its |
---|
44 | 45 | | geopolitical influence; and |
---|
45 | 46 | | WHEREAS, In Texas, the hydrogen industry capitalizes on the |
---|
46 | 47 | | state's abundant natural resources, established infrastructure, |
---|
47 | 48 | | and robust energy expertise to create jobs, attract investments, |
---|
48 | 49 | | and drive innovation, and it is indeed fitting that the state's |
---|
49 | 50 | | hydrogen industry and its partners be recognized for their myriad |
---|
50 | 51 | | contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
---|
51 | 52 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
