| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Family Place, the Texas Council on Family |

| 13 | 14 | | Violence, and the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault are |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | among the groups gathering for Domestic Violence Advocacy Day; The |

| 15 | 16 | | Family Place traces its origins to 1976, when the Battered Women's |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Task Force was established in Dallas; two years later, the Dallas |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Violence Intervention Alliance opened The Family Place as one of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the first family violence shelters in Texas; known today as the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | largest such service provider in the Lone Star State, it advocates |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | for community engagement and social change while providing the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | survivors of violence with the safe housing, counseling, and skills |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | they need to rebuild and lead independent lives; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Among The Family Place's offerings are a 24-hour |

| 24 | 25 | | crisis hotline, emergency shelters for women, children, and men, |

| 25 | 26 | | extended-stay apartments and transitional housing, area counseling |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | centers, medical and dental care, job, technical, and life skills |

| 27 | 28 | | training, and the Battering Intervention and Prevention Program; |

| 28 | 29 | | moreover, the Child Development Center provides early childhood |

| 29 | 30 | | education and mentoring programs as well as specialized curriculum |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, The Family Place benefits from the exceptional |

| 32 | 33 | | leadership of Delia Jasso, who serves on its executive board of |

| 33 | 34 | | directors and as chair of its Hispanic Advisory Council, which she |

| 34 | 35 | | established in 2023; the council supports the organization's work |
