77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Many Texans are joining together with people around
99 the world in celebration of Navroz, also known as the Persian New
1010 Year, on March 21, 2025; and
1111 WHEREAS, This festival celebrates the first day of spring,
1212 which is observed by many communities, particularly in Central and
1313 South Asia; and
1414 WHEREAS, The origin of the celebration can be traced back to
1515 ancient Persia, and the observance marks the first day of the
1616 Persian solar year; and
1717 WHEREAS, Navroz commemorates a centuries-old agrarian custom
1818 that over time was integrated into various cultures and faith
1919 groups; and
2020 WHEREAS, Navroz is traditionally celebrated by the recital of
2121 devotional poetry, prayers, and the distribution of dried fruits,
2222 nuts, and grains to symbolize the abundance of sustenance; and
2323 WHEREAS, Today, Navroz is celebrated in different ways by
2424 some 300 million people around the world, and it traditionally
2525 commences with a spring cleaning of the home; and
2626 WHEREAS, The observance of Navroz in the Lone Star State is a
2727 reflection of the lively blend of cultures that have shaped our
2828 state's history and identity, and this joyous event is indeed
2929 deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3131 Legislature hereby commemorate the celebration of Navroz on March
3232 21, 2025, and extend to all those who are participating in the
3333 festivities sincere best wishes for a memorable and meaningful
3434 occasion.
