77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Carla Campos of Haltom High School reached the
99 pinnacle of success by winning a gold medal at the 2025 University
1010 Interscholastic League Wrestling State Tournament; and
1111 WHEREAS, On February 14 and 15, Ms. Campos joined the other
1212 top high school wrestlers in Texas at the Berry Center in Cypress;
1313 she turned in a stellar performance in the 6A girls' 185-pound
1414 weight division, defeating her Byron P. Steele II High School
1515 opponent by fall in the semifinals to set up a title match showdown
1616 against the two-time defending state champion Rylee Ferranti of
1717 Klein Oak High School; with the state crown on the line, Ms. Campos
1818 recorded a 6-2 decision for the victory; and
1919 WHEREAS, Ms. Campos has achieved great success over the
2020 course of her high school wrestling career, collecting three
2121 district championships, two regional crowns, and two state
2222 tournament medals; in addition to receiving All-American honors,
2323 she has twice been named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for Region
2424 1-6A and has been voted the District 4-6A Most Outstanding
2525 Wrestler; and
2626 WHEREAS, By claiming a gold medal in the state's premier
2727 showcase for high school wrestlers, Carla Campos has ably
2828 represented her school and community, and she may indeed take
2929 justifiable pride in this exceptional accomplishment; now,
3030 therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
3232 Legislature hereby congratulate Carla Campos on winning the 6A
3333 girls' 185-pound weight division at the 2025 UIL Wrestling State
3434 Tournament and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
3535 success; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3737 prepared for Ms. Campos as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3838 House of Representatives.
