| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Rita Blanca Electric Cooperative is celebrating |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, During the settlement of the Northwest Panhandle, |

| 10 | 11 | | rural areas were still largely without electric power; a group of |

| 11 | 12 | | leaders from Dallam, Sherman, Moore, and Hartley Counties came |

| 12 | 13 | | together to bring electricity to local farms and ranches, and as a |

| 13 | 14 | | result of their efforts, the formation of the Rita Blanca Electric |

| 14 | 15 | | Cooperative was approved by the Rural Electrification |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Administration in 1945; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Today, the Rita Blanca Electric Co-Op serves more |

| 17 | 18 | | than 1,700 members and maintains nearly 8,600 meters and more than |

| 18 | 19 | | 3,400 miles of power lines in Dallam, Hansford, Hartley, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Hutchinson, Moore, Oldham, Potter, and Sherman Counties; the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | utility company has worked hard to keep pace with increasing demand |

| 21 | 22 | | for electric power, and to that end, it has joined Golden Spread |

| 22 | 23 | | Electric Cooperative, Inc., enabling customers to benefit from the |

| 23 | 24 | | quality of local service combined with competitive rates; and |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, For eight decades, the Rita Blanca Electric |

| 25 | 26 | | Cooperative has provided reliable and affordable electrical power |

| 26 | 27 | | to area homes and businesses, and in so doing, it has contributed |

| 27 | 28 | | greatly to the prosperity and quality of life in the communities it |

| 28 | 29 | | serves; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Rita |

| 31 | 32 | | Blanca Electric Cooperative and extend to all those associated with |

| 32 | 33 | | the utility sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
