| 11 | 12 | | an annual ranking of hospitals that provide labor and delivery |

| 12 | 13 | | services; the ranking is designed to assist expectant parents in |

| 13 | 14 | | making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | consultation with their prenatal care team; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, UTMB earned a High Performing designation by |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | U.S. News based on its scores in several categories, including care |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | provided in cases involving severe unexpected newborn |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | complications, birthing-friendly practices, and transparency in |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | reporting on racial and ethnic disparities in birth outcomes; it |

| 20 | 21 | | was among more than 800 hospitals from across the United States that |

| 21 | 22 | | were evaluated as part of this year's study; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious national designation is a |

| 23 | 24 | | testament to The University of Texas Medical Branch's commitment to |

| 24 | 25 | | upholding the highest standards of practice for the women and |

| 25 | 26 | | infants entrusted to its care, and the Galveston community is |

| 26 | 27 | | indeed fortunate to be home to such a first-rate health care |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
