| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The volunteers, staff, and board members who make up |

| 9 | 10 | | in Austin on March 27, 2025, for CASA Day at the State Capitol; and |

| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Texas CASA is part of a national volunteer movement |

| 11 | 12 | | that began in 1977 and enlists local community volunteers to |

| 12 | 13 | | support children and families involved in the foster care system; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | beginning in 1979 with the first CASA program in Dallas, and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | followed by the formation of Texas CASA in 1989, judges and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | communities across the state have worked to expand CASA's services; |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Providing 74 local programs in 220 of the state's |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | 254 counties, Texas CASA has grown to become one of the largest such |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | programs in the nation; through their advocacy efforts in the 2024 |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | fiscal year, CASA volunteers made a difference for nearly 18,000 |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | youth by helping to build family connections and working to address |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | each child's mental, medical, and educational needs during their |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | time in foster care; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge to provide |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | valuable information and to make informed recommendations to courts |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | that serve the best interests of each child; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The CASA network in Texas is dedicated to expanding |

| 28 | 29 | | to reach more children and families while continuously growing in |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | knowledge and practice; these efforts ensure that CASA serves as |

| 30 | 31 | | informed, collaborative partners in an ever-evolving system of care |
