| 9 | 10 | | coach Diana Lerma is being inducted into the Rio Grande Valley |

| 10 | 11 | | Sports Hall of Fame on June 28, 2025; and |

| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Since 1988, the RGV Sports Hall of Fame has paid |

| 12 | 13 | | tribute to individuals who have made a positive impact in the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | community through sports-related endeavors; the hall was created to |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | honor former student-athletes, amateur athletes, coaches, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | administrators, officials, trainers, and media figures who have |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | distinguished themselves with their accomplishments; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A native of Mission, Diana Lerma initially gained |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | acclaim as a standout volleyball player at Mission High School; |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | following her graduation in 1981, she went on to compete in the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | sport at Laredo Junior College and Southwest Texas State |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | University, where she was named to the Southland All-Conference |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Team; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Lerma began her volleyball coaching career at |

| 24 | 25 | | La Joya High School; in 2002, she was hired to launch the volleyball |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | program at Veterans Memorial High, and she immediately set about |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | building a winning culture; over the years, she has enjoyed |

| 27 | 28 | | remarkable success at the helm of the team, racking up over 800 |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | career wins while directing the Lady Patriots to nearly 50 total |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | district, bi-district, and area championships and to four |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | appearances in the Sweet 16; in addition, a number of her |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | student-athletes have received college scholarships; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Through her dedicated efforts, Diana Lerma has |

| 33 | 34 | | furthered the proud tradition of athletic achievement in the Rio |

| 34 | 35 | | Grande Valley, and she is indeed deserving of this prestigious |

| 35 | 36 | | honor; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas |
